RESOURCES · REVIEWED AUG 5, 2026 · THIS PAGE IS NEVER SPONSORED AND NEVER MONETIZED

If you’ve lost someone, the practical decisions on this site are only part of what you’re carrying. These resources exist for the other part. They are free or low-cost, and LocalVerity has no commercial relationship with any of them — this page carries no products, no advertising, and never will.

If you’re in crisis right now

Call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7, free and confidential, for any emotional distress including overwhelming grief. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

Grief counseling & support groups

Cornerstone of Hope — Columbus · 253 N. State Street, Suite 200, Westerville, OH 43081 · (614) 824-4285 · columbus.cornerstoneofhope.org
A nonprofit bereavement center serving children, teens, and adults: professional grief counseling, and structured support groups offered free of cost, including groups specific to the loss of a spouse, loss of a child, loss to suicide, and loss to overdose. Their groups are described as open and accessible to all, regardless of ethnic, cultural, and faith backgrounds. (Details from the organization’s own materials, reviewed Aug 5, 2026 — confirm current schedules directly.)

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center — grief & bereavement resources · wexnermedical.osu.edu (search “grief resources”)
Maintains an updated list of Columbus-area support groups by type of loss, free grief-recovery groups, online courses, and spiritual care resources.

For children and teens: Nationwide Children’s Hospital offers behavioral health services for youth, and Cornerstone of Hope runs in-school support, workshops, and bereavement camps for grieving children and teens.

Hospice bereavement programs: most hospice organizations offer bereavement support to the whole community — not only to families they served. If a hospice was involved in your loved one’s care, their bereavement team is usually a phone call away and free.

A note on timing

There is no schedule for grief. Support groups welcome people whose loss was last month or several years ago, and counseling is useful whenever you decide it is — there is nothing you’re supposed to have finished by now.
